Thanked: 267For my safety and protection of my razors when I am shaving I have a folded barber towel next to the sink and that is my "safe zone" for my razor. I put it on the towel between passes and anytime the razor is out, even if closed. I also have a non-slip rug that I stand on so that if I do drop my razor it might land on that. Only happened once but it probably saved my razor.
Take Care,
Richard

It may sound like an exageration, but a straight is really a leathal weapon and deserves MUCH respect, not fear but respect. BE CAREFUL GUYS!

Same in the kitchen.
Every thing in its place and a place for everything.
And the shop.
A pot full of boiling water...
A toddler grabbing....
Sharp knives...
Slippery floor...
Helpers with no clue...

I like to live max on the extreme, therefore I boil the water for my tea =D
A while ago I saw in a internet video where a guy was starting to strop, and started to palmrubbing the strop while holding an opened razor. Seeing that blade wave about gave me the chillies.
Doing something "just quickly, no harm done" have potential to cause havoc. I did my worst damage "just reaching over quickly" for a loupe.
Like Aretha Franklin sang, R-E-S-P-E-C-T is needed.

I hear you! My safety rules are simple:
1. Never take my eyes off the razor unless I have set it down on the counter, on a towel. That prevents breaking the razor on the faucet or accidentally cutting myself by making an inadvertent gesture with the razor in my hand.
2. Always move slowly and deliberately while holding a razor. No sudden movements, even if there is an earthquake.
3. No distractions. This annoys my wife considerably at times.

Thanked: 31i wear flip flops after i get out of the shower that way i cant slip on the tile and dont have to stand on a cold floor....but i leave the door open so it doesnt get steamy on the glass but then again i dont also have little ones to worry about coming in and bumping me. and i am the only guy out of 4 that works night shift so i dont get bothered much but it still goes through my mind that someone may come in one day and knock me and make me slice myself like fresh roast beef
