Thanked: 0You know I think straight razors are a great hobby or passion. It keeps you occupied with searching, bidding, buying tools to restore the razor, restoring the razors, and using the razor. Not to mention all of the accoutrements that go with the actual shaving process. All this keeps you occupied and constructively off the street and as Rob says out of trouble with Cindy Crawford. It has to boost the economy as well. I am just happy to be apart of it with you guys.

what was old is new again. It's like discovering a secret knowledge. The mystery draws us near, and then we are captured. This is how it was done a 100 years ago, and many are rediscovering that sometimes the old ways are the best ways.

I'm amazed, and can see the difference even in the relatively short time that I've been here. What is it, three months now?
I like it, though. At least as long as we manage to avoid flaming each other over minutae.

I can spend an hour reading all of these posts very easily. There is sooooo much info here it is unbelievable. When I first started this hobby I thought how much info could there be. Well, after discovering that answer I was amazed at how many different aspects there is to straight razor shaving. Buying, honing, stropping, shaving, pre shave stuff, aftershave stuff, collecting, restoring, forums, friendly people. It is great.
if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

Yea whats old is new again and soon we will be all driving around in 53 chevys and living in 1200 sq ft houses and flying in prop planes and watching T.V on 21 inch Tube driven sets and waiting for the ice man to come with the ice for our ice boxes and the list goes on and on. Pardon me but I have to go clean my knickers and bed down my horse so I can get to work tomorrow.

what I'm likeing now (after 9 months of reading and 7 months of shaving) is having the ideas that I have formed be questioned and perhaps debunked by what I read. Just inspires more uncertainty which, of course, is the path to wisdom. Thanks to you all for all your dissent. It makes me wiser.
