Older version of Sweeney Todd
Might be old news, but here's a link to an 1982 stage version of the Sweeney Todd musical in youtube. Very different from the Burton's dark version.

I'm with Jimmy and Ursus...
I find this production (on YouTube) with Angela Lansbury and George Hearn to be smashing good...
YMMV.

There is also a non musical BBC version out there somewhere with a guy names winstone or something like that. Its very different also but truer to the original.

I saw Sweeney Todd when the Depp version came out and all I knew was that he was a barber that shaved...cool...I didn't shave for two days after seeing it.

In another Sweeny Todd thread back when someone highly recommended that version. I was tempted but it is not musical nor is there a comic theme running through it. So I decided to pass. Without Sondheim's music and the comic aspect of Mrs. Lovett and her meat pies it becomes a horror movie. Reviewers of the DVD on amazon mostly gave it high praise for the performances but also said it was very bloody. I can do without that.
