Whisker evolution
I've had a beard for the past 3 years (from 26 years old to 29 years of age) and shaved it off recently. I've been shaving for a bit more than a week now, and I was shocked to find out that I've got a much more whiskers to shave off than before I had the beard. I was sure that at 26 my whisker growth would be the standard until I died, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Does anyone know if this will continue ? Did your beards get stronger / fuller as you aged ?
Thanks
Glenn

Well, to tell you the truth I've never found my whiskers change at all. Or at least until more recently as I get closer to being an official senior citizen I find the beard is getting rougher.

Thanked: 1195There seems to be a period that guys go through when they reach their mid to late twenties, almost a "second puberty", where you'll notice extra body hair growing in places you didn't think of, including your face. It can happen so gradually that you won't notice it for months, or at least until someone clues you in. It's also a time when your metabolism slows down, so those days of drinking beer night after night and not gaining a pound are over . I'm not a doctor, but I know I'm not the only guy who went through this at that age.

This is, I believe, very individual.
My whiskers have constantly grown coarser by the years.
Each and every year I would think this is it, the development has stopped and this is my "grown man's beard" But no, it has kept on getting coarser.
I'm now in my 40's and I think I can finally say that it has stayed pretty much the same the last couple of years.
I do see, or the SWMBO does, a few gray ones coming, so I guess this is all about to change again
I used to hate that it would constantly grow faster and thicker each and every year, but now that I shave with straights, I say bring it on, more Zen time in the bath room for me.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 335Shaving my beard off was done for two reasons: 1, I needed to get fitted for a respirator and 2, I decided that I didn't want to tip my hand by looking like all the other gray bearded idiots. Now I just behave like all the other gray bearded idiots, only I do it beardlessly. And am totally clueless if beards become thicker, coarser, or fuller with age.
