    Thumbs up My Newest Maestro

    Hi Guys,

Just got a Maestro Takeda AS Steel razor, honed it up and OH MY.......This thing is awesome. Two layers of softer carbon with a layer of higher content carbon in the middle forged together. Pretty cool eh.......Handle is Crust Ivory. I hear the Maestro may be getting some more of these blades and some Takeda Damascus which is also two layers of Damascus with a higher layer of carbon in between and forged together.

Who is this "Maestro", and what makes him/her so great?

Thanks, Lynn. It's a beautiful piece. Nice to know they're actually made by a master, and that the title "Maestro" isn't merely an affectation. I have really got to teach myself how to do that.

man-o-man lynn. you know i love that construction and that steel in the center. Takeda is a great smith. And the Maestro is great in his own right.

    Lynn,

That's a beauty. Very rugged and rustic looking. You'll notice I have a flair for the obvious!

Takeda as in Shosui Takeda!!!! Holy Crap! Takeda's knives are awesome, I have several. AS, or blue super steel is amazing too! WOW, I almost can't imagine how well that razor will shave. His knives will take an unbelieveable edge.

    Lynn,
That is one cool looking razor. The crusted ivory looks similar to some of his horn scales. The blade is also neat looking and looks like it will shave nicely. Since I own a Maestro I can verify the fact that they are very nice.
if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.
