Thanked: 1is this an ok price on a W&B meat chopper
i found an old W&B 7/8 or 8/8 with the box, it is elaborately engraved and shows no rust, scales and edge are in good shape, most of the blade is near black from staining. I think it could clean up nicely without buffing out the engraving. i was told i could get it for $45 what do you all think of that price?

If you clean it up, you can probably get a lot more than $45 for it. This one still has 5 days left!

Not bad at all. If you keep it a while or indefinitely, think about a per day cost you incurred - pennies or less! Then again, any quality str8 will have a per day cost of next to nothing. Just keep them dry and oiled and it'll be an heirloom for your kids.

Thanked: 1i think maybe i will pick it up then, it has a really elaborate etched scene on it. i was thinking it was expensive as the first SR I bought (2 weeks ago) was a W&B meat cleaver that I gave $16 for.

And if you decide you don't like it, I'll probably buy it off you. I've been looking for a good conditioned W&B for a while now.

Trapperjohn,
Those big W&B razors are really nice shavers in fact one of my better shavers is one. The $45 isn't bad at all in fact I have paid more for one that doesn't have the nicely etched blade but was generally nice anyway.if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.
