Default A Request For Anyone Selling Razors In The Classifieds

It seems that at least 50% of the advertisements for razors that pop up in the classifieds section here are lacking one KEY piece of information:

    The grind of the razor

It seems to me that this is one of the very most important aspects of describing a razor. Some folks want to stay away from the heavy grinds and are looking for a full-hollow grind. Others (like me) don't like the hollows and are looking for something at least half-hollow to wedge.

Mods, is there some way to have razor sellers go through a little form with check boxes, specifying size, grind, new, used, NOS, blade shape, smile or no, etc.? This would be an easy way for sellers to remember all the pertinent information they need to provide.

    Thanks.

I think this is a reasonable suggestion

Yes the suggestion is great BUT

The problem is with the sellers themselves, most are pretty comfortable saying wedge or hollow BUT it gets a little more complicated than that...

Just look at the razors you like
    Wedges

You have a full wedge Zero hollow effect, rather rare actually
    A Near wedge
a Concave wedge with very slight hollows
a 1/8 wedge with slightly more hollow
    and then the 1/4 hollow

And let's not forget that these are not all the terms, and that some manufactures used them differently...

The problem is determining the difference, unless you have handled many of the razors...

Then getting into hollows there are a multitude of different grinds out there....

So people tend to shy away from putting actual labels on the razors, mostly because they don't know what it really is... In a perfect world everyone would know exactly what they were selling and have that info in their ads...

I do like the idea of the form though much like what we have in the SRDB

I think you're going to be better off asking for a head-on picture which shows the grind than asking the seller what the grind is
Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

If the razor is already there, you can simply copy and paste:

    Copy/Paste for Forum
    FieldsData
    Manufacturer Revisor
    Region Solingen, Germany
    Date Modern
    Size 6/8
    Point Round
    Shoulder Shoulderless
    Jimps Upper
    Scales Plastic
    Steel Carbon
Revisor "6-0004" 6/8 - Straight Razor Place Wiki

If it's not there, it should be.

Yeah...something like the form there in the database would be swell.
