Thanked: 1Advice And Opinions Please
Hi
Have just started on this forum and trying to gain as much info as possible and it will be a long learning curve. Been trawling all over to buy a decent SR and some of the prices new are quite daunting...usual ebay stuff, problem being I am just starting so very little experience of used razors.
I picked up the following last night and would welcome opinions to the purchases..good ,bad or maybe. And what should I do wth them once they are delivered. Awaiting beginners pack of hones from Tilly, have a strop and most other things.

Dont know if the prices paid were good, but in comparison with one new razor dont look to bad.
Thanks

You got an excellent price on the second one. The first one cost you almost like a good new one. Both of these look fairly clean, but with their combined price plus 2-3 beers, you could have got yourself a good new TI. However I wouldn't lament over it too much. To my untrained eye they look mint and that they'll give you excellent shaves once you hone'em.

I'd say you did really well, particularly on the first one. I don't think you paid too much (although some here might disagree with me), but that's up to you. I don't really know of a standardized way to gauge razor value (but I'm sure there is one). If you're happy with your purchases, you paid just enough. The real test will be if they shave well. You said you were new, though, and those are both nice razors. I'd probably pick up a few cheapie "dogs", just to practice honing with, before you go screwing up those nice blades, and you usually will just starting out. I might even go so far as to get a Pakistani razor, just to practice sharpening on. After you get the technique down, you can always throw it away (and I would, just to keep my Paki razor from contaminating my collection with crappiness ). Best o' luck,
Joe

They look like nice shavers indeed. I haven't heard of either brand before, but if you treat them well, I wouldn't be surprised if they give you many years of good service.

You did great on both of them. The first one is particularly nice. Both will make very good shavers. The important thing is that you are happy with your purchase and enjoy shaving with them.Ive paid way too much for a lot of razors, but enjoyed them,so thats what matters to me .If one misbehaves I put it on E bay and get rid of it If you ever want to get rid of them let me know,I cant say no

Both are very nice razors and you got a pretty good deal on them. The first razor is very nice. I like the nice design on the spine and it's indicative of higher value razors. Hopefully they'll hone up nicely and you'll have a couple of really great razors. If you don't have the honing tools, there are folks on this site that can hone them for you for a reasonable fee.

Thanked: 2209The condition of both of the razors is very good to excellent!
Just remember that both of these are used razor's and as such the edges have had time to oxidise and weaken. If you have no experience honing then my sincere suggestion is to send them to some for honing. Get a couple of other cheapo razos and practice honing on the cheapo's first.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
