    Default What are these?

Sometimes in my e-bay wanderings I come across things I have no idea what they are or what they do. I took a look at auction 6618200447 and I just don't get it. Can anybody turn on the light bulb for me concerning the bottom two items in this auction?

    Thanks, ROY

I think it's some sort of contraption to strop a double-edge razor blade. I think it's part of a Rolls Razor or a similar type of stropping device.

Sometimes they're called auto-stroppers. You basically have a little lever you push in and out of the box and that pulls the safety blade over the leather inside and makes it last a little longer. I recall somebody on this site saying that you could get a similar result from rubbing the blade on the inside of a round glass full of water.

I imagine some drinking glass sizes would be better than others. Are we talking like a tall thin highball glass or a squat wider rock glass do you think?

You wouldn't want to bend the DE blade too much so I'd imagine a squat rock glass since the curve would be gentler.
