Mini-meet
X, Greg and I chilled at X's place tonight. All in all it was a great time and they're both really cool guys. X did wonders with our blades, there was some good convo and a very educational experience (especially for my honing/stropping techniques). Too bad I have to work tomorrow morning so I had to leave early. However I may not be able to resist shaving with my freshly-honed blade before I go to sleep
P.S. You know you're an addict when you spend your Friday night honing razors and actually have a good time lol

'Twas Nice Wasn't It
We had a few drink ('sept Ilja 'cuz he's a RESPONSIBLE crazy driver!), had a couple of laughs and some great stories got passed. I feel like I know what it's like to shave with the Pakistani blade except I never had to go through the pain.
That 6/8 Taylor seems like some fine steel indeed. I hope it shaves better for you now that the chips are gone.
Something I didn't get a chance to mention before you left about those people you know who you might be able to interest in straight shaving: I think you should go easy on them. Play it cool. Tell them simply it's the best shave they could get and/or that you'll never bo back to garbage razors and let it sit at that. Create a mystique. Either they're ready to make a change or they're not and you're not going to be able to push them in. Nobody should be pushed in to this. They should do it because THEY want to, not because we want them to even though we do. You may have this in mind already, but there was so much to takl about that we slipped by that one.
Anyway, good shaving.

I couldn't resist... Had to do it.. The shave was amazing and absolutely no nicks. As for my buddies, I'm playing it like that with one and I don't have to do it with the other, he's already gung ho about it. K I better jet b/c I have to wake up for work in less than 6 hours lol. Once again thanks

Houston, we have a problem. The second shave left my face raw. It was worse than my first shave with it, before those nicks got polished out! To correct it, I ran a double pyramid on the Japs, then a single pyramid. When I ran it over the arm-hairs they were coming off with no catching. After 35 runs on the strop (I was VERY careful), it was DEVOURING those arm hairs. Resting my face until Monday.. Can't wait

Sorry about that. Gald to hear a simple pyramid took care of it though.
I wonder how now gegtik's came out.

Not your fault. If anything you helped me a lot with my honing/stropping technique and polished out those two nicks. I'm guessing that either norton or the green paste was too aggressive for the soft carbon steel. Fortunately those Japs cut slowly. However it would have taken me a month of honing to get those nicks out without your rough hone and the norton work lol. So in any case I saved a lot of time and effort and gained quite a bit of knowledge. Thanks bro

Are you sure you are not pressing too hard?

I might be able to have a meet like that with a friend of mine in the near future. I'm donating one of my razors (Thanks X) to him. I wonder how he'll do. So far he's tried the whole "lathering up with a brush" experience (I gave him some stuff for his B-day) and seemed to have liked it. I wonder how he'll like a proper straight shave?
My girlfriend was so impressed about the smoothness of my face yesterday that she's seriously contemplating about asking me to shave her legs....I don't know where that road will go though.
