Thanked: 324I like a mirror finish. I also think geometry and design is important. I particularly favor larger blades with unique geometry and nice curves. I don't care for acid etch or goldwash so much but do like engravings and worked backs. And, of course, the blade has to be of superior steel and capable of taking and holding a very, very keen edge in order for me to consider it a top shelf razor.

I voted for a plain blade. I'm more apt to use it if I'm not worried about mucking up some finish.
Plain etches and filework/hammerwork are preferred to goldwash and paint.

Actually one thing I REALLY don't like is yellow gold. I've been raised to look upon it as low-class. White gold/platinum don't show well on blades and even if they did, there's no necessity for them on shaving implements.
