    Default Getting the word out

I would love to see more celebrities advocating classic shaving (str8 razor/DE). It may help people get off the "more blades is better" bandwagon. So who would you like to see ? I personally think the guy from the Old Spice commercials would be awesome!!

i personally think i'm the man who should be the face of shaving and proper haircuts.. however.. since i'm not a celebrity.. i'd like to see a real man adverting real shaving. daniel craig comes to mind.. him being the new bond and all.

    Thumbs down

To be honest, I am not in favor of seeing wetshaving advertised by anyone, much less the old spice guy or Bond.

Nowadays, advertising seems to be very effective at selling just about anything to the masses, and frankly, I would not want to see our valuable hobby cheapened through any mass advertising venue. Most of us stumbled across this fantastic hobby through various channels (word of mouth, friends, family...you name it)...How many of us truly got into wetshaving by seeing a commercial on TV.

I figure let's keep it away from advertising and allow those who get serious about this to find it the way we did...research.

Besides, as soon as Daniel Graig or Brosnan or the Old Spice Guy hit the waves promoting the DE, Str8 or creme/soap, several things will start happening:

    1. Filarmonica EPBD 14 prices will go from ~$450 to >$1,500 .
    2. People who should clearly not be anywhere close to sharp objects will start buying one.
    3. The hobby itself slowly degrades and transforms into a cartridge shaving phenomenon...next thing you know Gillette will introduce the 3-edge str8 with a lubricant strip, with an optional feature that makes your favorite espresso.

So No, thank you very much ...I say let's keep this thing pure and away from the exploitative and degrading clutches of mass advertising.

    My 2 cents

good point. plus i don't think we'll ever see it marketed cause there is no profit in it for any one company.

a very good point.. i guess the point of advertising is simply to sell and that wouldn't be my intentions.. but i push wetshaving on my mates like i'm a 15 year old pothead trying not to smoke alone...

i don't like the idea of paying $300 for a merkur hd.. but i do wish the joy of wetshaving on every one out there stuck paying way too much for way too little.

Hmmm I think either Sam Elliot,R. Lee Ermy,or possibly Bruce Willis would be good classic shaving spokepeople. They have all been old skool rugged character actors and would have very unique approaches I'm sure..although I just read Bladerunner001's comment and might be inclined to agree. If it starts becoming mainstream ,then only rich men will be able to afford the indulgence of our favorite manly ritual. Commercialism sucks 3blades !

hmm...I would agree..stay away from bigtime advertising..such as billboards n late night infomercials...
as there "could" be that one guy who tries to market "high tech fancy shmancy" to the "simple man"
Though..no reason why Banner Ad's online couldn't be an option I think..why not..everything online just about..has an ad or two
