Buyer Beware
Along with some of us being new too straight razors, some are also new too ebay. Always read the fine print.

I confirmed with the seller that his shipping cost is $40.00
It would be real easy just too toss out a 99 cent bid for shxx's and giggles. Then too find out the shipping charge. Yes this razor may be worth $41.00 but I would rather the seller put the price on the bid and not the shipping. He is doing this for two reasons. One he pays less to ebay for the price sold and two for the poor sucker that didn't see the shipping price.
Always check shipping cost, seller feedback and return policy.
Make sure that the payment method is one that works for you as well.

p.s. a better picture would be required if I was to pay $40 for this razor.

Thanked: 2i wouldn't pay for it, tell the guy you'll pay for him to relist the auction ($2 or $3) or you'll report him to ebay. they have to have rules about extremely expensive shipping charges. overcharging a couple bucks isn't a big deal but that's nuts.
i wouldn't mind paying it if i thought the razor was worth the price. i bought a $1 razor that turned out to be $9 but it was worth about $15 to me. i'm okay with 'cheating ebay' as long as i'm not being cheated.
now if you wanted to return something, which i'm not sure you are required to accept if you sell something (pretty sure you aren't), you would prob. not get the whole cost back......you could fight it with paypal, though.

If it were to get lost or damaged the Post office is only going to refund the actual purchase price via insurance, not the shipping costs.
This is similar to the problem I sometimes face with International sales. The customers pays for insurance for a $80 purchase but wants me to claim a lower value for customs. Can't have it both ways....it's either worth $80 or it's worth $20 but not both. Not to mention it is also illegal to claim other than actual price.

Man that's just nuts. Tennis razor's are supposed to be decent razors too, he'll get close to $40 for it, but his greed and deceipt are unconscionable. Anybody got a molotov cocktail? No need really. Instant Karma!

So I asked the seller why $40 to ship, and I got a response!
thats how i list my items or i would have listed 40 starting bid and .99 shipping.thats why so many items on ebay start at .99 cause the sellers make what there asking price is on the shipping.cheaper to list.i am asking 40 for the antique german razor
