What it's all about...
I sell cars for a living, primarily over the Internet. That means I'm not involved with a lot of what the "regular" sales staff parpticipates in. However, a few times a year, we have offsite sales, and at least half of the regular staff is away from the store. When this happens, all salespeople work from open until closing, or as they call it here in Utah, "burn" days. This sale is a Thursday, Friday, Saturday sale. 6 years ago it wasn't so bad, but today, as my health "ain't what it used to be", and I am a bit older, this is getting tougher.
So, to my point. Tonight I came home, threw a load of laundry in the washer, filled up my mug with hot water and tossed in my Vulfix badger shaving brush to soak. Sorted through my cabinet and pulled out Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Shop shaving cream. For those of you who have never used it, the scent is described as "fresh Citrus is blended with the sophistication and ruggedness of precious Cedar and Oak woods. Add a virile undertone of musk over a floor of Sage and Rosemary and alluring Petitgrain for a lightly scented shaving cream that stimulates the senses and excites the emotions." Now, I've just completed a 14 hour day, and I'm tired, so rather than reaching for one of my straights, I grabbed my Merkur HD Classic, loaded in a fresh Merkur blade, and spent the next 20 minutes enjoying a wonderful shave. Hot towels, hot lather, and since I'm using a DE, not a lot of concentration. I finished three passes, and still had a bowl full of lather, so I ran hot water over the bottom of the bowl, reloaded my brush and relathered, finishing off with another hot towel. The aroma was intoxicating. The cedar notes are especially pronounced. I finally decided that the lather had to go, so I rinsed my face and finished off with Natureade Aloe 80, a scent free aloe gel. I didn't want anything to interfere with the aroma. It's been almost an hour, and I'm still enjoying the wonderful aroma of this fine shaving cream.
Okay, so the razor was wrong, but that is what a great shave is all about. The enjoyment. The ceremony. And the results.
