Thanked: 0Love of the shave
Well everyone I am very new to this straight razor shaving. Been wanting to do it for some time and my wife got me a set for an anniverisary gift about a month ago. So I have to tell you I have always done the disposable deal and it was just another daily routine. This is a completely different animal. I love it. Each day I am excited about getting in the shower and then doing my shaving "ritual." I absolutely love it. It is very addicting honestly and I have become obsessive. For a side note she did a good job on getting stuff. She was smart and spent money on a good razor a Dovo. The mug, soap and brush are just entry level, but work fine. I bought the strop and norton 4k/8k after.

Thanked: 0Geek,
Im getting along very well actually. It seems to not be that difficult honestly. The most difficult part is understanding and making sure that baby is sharp enough. But so far so good. I have been checking out as much info as I can and have been surfing SRP ever since I began. Who knew there was so much dedicated to this forgotten art or years gone by. It is a speciality thats for sure. Seems like theres a large group of guys near my age around here also. Just when you loose all hope for modern society you stumble across a place like this. It's beautiful

Hardcorehunter,
Excellent that we have another convert here. I would love it if the converts get so numerous that it is feasible to support more razor makers.
Also, from your site name - are you planning on straight razor shaving during your hunting trips?

I am a 15 year old trapped in a 61 year old body. Glad you are enjoying your shaves. If I understand you to say that you shave in the shower I can only caution you about dropping your razor. I always shave with at least underwear on. I wouldn't want to have to explain circumcision this late in life should I drop the razor and have to go to the ER.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Hey hardcore, great to hear about your new found enjoyment in shaving. Using the straight is a completely different animal , as you said, and so much more fun. It's nice to hear that you are doing well and because of how well you are doing I must add not to get over confident with the razor. That is one of the biggest mistakes newcomers make and I will add that the razor always wins when this happens, it's bite IS worse then it's bark.
Have fun!Having Fun Shaving
