Thanked: 983Wet shaving vs Other shaving
Still being fairly new to all this shaving research, I found that I've frequently come across the term 'Wet Shaving' alot. Having only ever shaved with some form of soap and water, except for a brief foray with an electric razor, I have to ask, are there people out there who really do 'Dry' shave?
I know that I couldn't dry shave, even with the electric, I had to use this short chunk of chalk like stuff to rub over my face to get the infernal contraption to irritate my face enough to call it a shave.
What did people do if they weren't 'Wet' shaving?

I know what you mean!
I did use an electric for a time and it felt like the hair were being ripped out rather than cut..! Nasty. My electric ran out of batteries over a year ago and its been relegated to the top of the medicine cabinet.
I have shaved with a DE and just water before, but only WTG. The shave wasnt the best and it certainly wasnt as comfortable as using a good lather.

For most of my life I used an electric. At the time it served.
I think using a cartridge razor with foam is not what most consider wet shaving either. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Someone on our forum could probably tell you better than I can, but here goes: I think with the advent of the electric shaver, "Wet Shaving" is what they would then call shaving otherwise (vs. Electric). I bought one of those Nerelcos when I was about 19 or 20. I hated the sensation/burn and the end result every time I used it. Which was under 20 times. Later I found a use when I started shaving my head bald. Worked great but left me looking like that movie Powder. I don't even know where that stupid thing is anymore.

My electric is needing new screen and blades as it tears the hairs out by the roots.... So I picked up straight shaving. I think it will go into the junk drawer...
