los angeles shave'ophiles - i went to ross cutlery..
as luck would have it.. i passed through downtown today and happened to have time to stop by ross cutlery.
it wasn't a meccashavingemporium or anything.. but it was pretty cool.. they had a few really cool things and i was able to pickup a 100 pack of derby de blades for only 15 dollars..
also saw a pair of de cufflinks that looked pretty keen.
i recommend a stop by if anyone is ever downtown.

i've lived in los angeles my entire life and i really don't consider "los angeles" as a whole a city i take full advantage of.. for the last 8 years of so i've lived in santa monica and i generally don't leave that area.. central hanging areas are the 3rd street prominade, the pier, montana st, and venice beach.. if you want to count that..
being in downtown is something that seriously just does not happen for me.. i hadn't seen downtown in probably over 2 years.. and even then.. it was simply a stop in union station on my way to santa ynez.
i have friends in the san fernando valley that never leave the valley.. they have their hangout zones there and have no need for the rest of l.a.
same with people who only live around echo park/silverlake, or norwalk/downey... los angeles is a huge place.. we have people way up in thousand oaks who consider themselves in los angeles and it's like an hours drive away... same with people in azusa and clairmont.. no one utilizes the entirety of los angeles.

i definitely want to check out oh u beauty! also.. matt.. if you're in in santa monica during business hours you can check out larry's shaver shop on lincoln and wilshire. they have straights, de's, brushes, and random assorted soaps and aftershaves.. the guy closes pretty early and isn't open on sundays or mondays i believe.. but it's still a neat little shop and the guy is very knowledgeable.
