I just joined the big razor club, myself.
Ordered the "Thiers-Issard Sheffield Silver Steel 7/8" razor from ClassicShaving.com a few minutes ago.

Thanked: 0Nice. You sold me on the first one. I just ordered one online (I think). I'm looking forward to getting one I can use as an example of a properly-hone blade.

Thanked: 0I ordered this one:

It's the 7/8 Henckels Friodur Razor - Twins handles
Now I have to wait for it to arrive!
I have a Norton 4000/8000 on the way too, from thebestthings.com, and I'll try to learn to hone my one razor in the meantime once I get it. The one I have is my first, which I got last week: http://www.classicshaving.com/catalo...013/719642.htm
But the shave is pretty awful until I get the stone and learn to hone it up a bit.Last edited by bigstooge; 05-04-2006 at 12:59 AM.

You're also less likely to wear one out, because of the higher wear resistance of the stainless. Good pull! Clarman, whose opinion I respect a lot, swears by the Friodurs. He's really what made me order one.

Thanked: 8I'll have to see how much dosh I can get together.
Just got delivered a Chris Johnson &Co Sheffield 5/8 round point today from local web site. Cost $3.00 Blade looks good, some rust so I'll get to work tonight on it. For $3 it's fun to try and restore.
Also got some La Clinica Oakmoss shaving oil from Australia so I'm gonna try that tomorrow morning.

Gary,
Everyone should have at least one Henkels Friodur in their collection.
