    Default 2 week update

Ive been shaving with a straight razor now for 2 weeks or so and the result is good. I think. I cut myself pretty good last night for the first time. I would assume its due to a dull razor. My stropping leaves alot to be desired and my shave is better than a disposable razor. I do like the lack or irritation i used to get. Maybe ill get ballsy and try xtg or atg in the next couple days.

I tried switching hands but my left just doesnt seem to work so I shave everything with my right hand. The only thing i noticed was my goatee was shorter on one side than the other so ive become conscious of that.

None the less im pleased and will continue with the straight razor.

Welcome to SRP! Its sounds as if you are off to a good start, there are many variables to getting a great shave and its just a matter of time before you become a pro.

Congrats on the progress....I will add that you should not give up on using the other hand. It is tough ( I still have to concentrate when I switch hands) but the upside is huge. Also I would wait on the other passes till you know your razor is sharp as can be. When dull, you will tend to put pressure on the razor and that will surely end in bad results. Good luck, you're on your way!

    Hi,

That is great. Thanks for sharing. I started in February but have yet to train my other hand to shave or a least assist.

I had planned on it. Next on the todo list is get a good razor. I bought a cheapy to be sure id stick with. When i get a new one ill send my old ones off and get them honed so they are usable.
