Default Cleaning Soap Spots off of Razors?

I have noticed some soap like spots forming on my razors. I am not sure if it is due to the water or the soap I am using, but I dont recall seeing these before. I clean my razors off and wipe them dry after each use. I was considering just spraying on some clippercide or something, but I dont know if that will do it get the gunk off or not. I have a mixture of carbon steel and stainless steel blades, any ideas?

JL...any kind of metal polish will get that off. I'd polish them, wash in hot water and dry. That should take care of it.

    JL,

Are the spots showing up on both the carbon steel and the stainless razors? Do you have hard water where you live? It could be mineral deposits.

I wash my blades with a liquid detergent(Dawn, Palmolive, etc) after each shave. It removes all of the shaving soap residue. It helps a lot.

I wash them with whatever hard soap is at the sink. After that, paper tissue (TP) is great for removing any gunk...

I wipe my razors down with alcohol, followed by a coating of Clippercide, then wiped dry. Then, the razor is left open to dry for at least 12 hours.

I just clean them with a towel or piece of cotton.....works pretty well....now....how to remove the stains from PREVIOUS owners....that's the tricky part.

Interesting I don't do anything but rinse them in the water and dry them on a towel and put them in a cigar box.

I actually havent noticed any on the stainless razors but I use those far less than my carbon steel. I travel a lot so its hard to say where and when they are showing up. I am only noticing them now and I have been home for a week, our water isnt incredibly hard, but its probably more on the hard side than the soft side. Im wondering if it could have anything to do with this new soap, I have never noticed it on any other soaps.

I leave mine open for around a day and I do wipe them down, but I only use clippercide every few shaves and I have never used alcohol. How long do you let the clippercide sit for?
