Thread: My first shave with a straight razor!

I've been straight shaving now for about 3 weeks and look forward to every morning now.
Tony's strops are great. I've got a 2 sided paddle and a 3" hanging strop and the quality is excellent.
btw In rugby the middle man in the front row of a scrum is called a hooker.

Congrats. You got a nice razor, too. Those heavy blades with the barber's notches are my favorites, and it's Sheffield, too, which is always great.

Well done my fellow post crazed noob friend. I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm starting to get the whole thing down a little by now...not so uncertain about shaving and honing things anymore. It's nice to feel that way.....AND have a cleanshaven face.

I'm looking forward to bringing the rest of the razors in my collection to shave-ready condition. I had such a wonderful time with the straight razor.

That's one of my favorite things to do as well at the moment. There's nothing like a polished, honed and stropped razor that'll pop a hair like I pop a sodacan.

Congradulations. There is something about your first str8 shave kind of like the first time you had sex. Both required a steady hand..

Yeah, you must always pay attention to what's sitting on your face.

Oh Ben that is so true. Also to make sure it's not too heavy..

And as the discussion in that thread proved, much like a woman, if you don't treat a razor with the utmost respect, the bitch'll cut you!
