And I thought it was like those MINTS you get on conference tables, the ones that are used as urinal fresheners.

Well, if you evaluate the situation, Bill brought all of this upon himself. He promptly paid for the razors, received them, let the seller know there was an issue and asked to return them. He did everything he was supposed to do. See! Bill is totally at fault!

Bill, I'm thinking you should send him one of those Japanese swords...what's it called???

Perhaps a collection could be taken up to replace this poor wronged man's razor. Say, a few Paki razors?

Anybody bother to call the # he left multiple times?

My guess is he's handicapped in some fashion, either physically, mentally or both. He could be using a language board for his typing if he's paralyzed, etc.

Or he could be just not all there, who knows.

Either way by the sounds of his writings he seems insecure, defensive, and badly desires positive reinforcement.

What he did was wrong. I feel for you Bill. But I'd have to say he's probably worse off emotionally/mentally than most of us will ever be. I feel sorry for the fellow. Not enough to buy stuff from him but still . . . .

Well, who really knows what the issue is, but my last reponse took the wind out of him.

"JUST REMEBER THERE ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO EVERY THING. AND THERE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM IF HE RETURNED ALL 3 IN THE SAME CONDITION I SHIPPED THEM TO HIM IN. THANKS FOR ASKING GABRIEL T LOY"

I'm betting he actually believes his version of events. That would be, no malice then, but not in touch with reality.

You know there is a possibility that the PO could have
mangled the box and a razor could have fallen out.
I recently received a Priority mailing and one end of
the box was gapped open. Thankfully the item was
still there. I lay the balme on the PO and not the
shipper. I DO NOT think that a fragile sticker would
    have helped either.

Yea, terry but if you read the story on bills ebay blurb you see the fellow gave a heads up on broken scales, etc. The hole and missing razor was a twist which could be true or just what he gave so he didn't totally lose money on it. Who knows.

    Hmm, interesting....

I took some time today to carefully read over the transcript of the email going back and fourth between you two.

    My first theory:

A very bad case of social anxiety disorder coupled with paranoia. Most people with this disease twist reality without even knowing it. The box could have indeed come banged up, and someone with this disease would take that as a personal attack on themself. I found it very interesting how he compared the way he shipped it to you versus the way you shipped it back to him. The emphasis on the fragile sticker was also suprising.

From his writing it is seems like he is taking all of this very personally. Before I entertain this theory much longer, I would like to point out I dont believe that this is the case. If he is an honorary knife club member, and is giving his phone number out to you, that is something that a person with this disease would NOT do.

    My second theory:

He was scamming people. As an honorary knife club member, he likely would have known about the value of these razors. It is also apparent from his pictures he was trying to hide the blades at all cost. If the customer complains, have them return it and give them a partial refund. Either way he makes money. The one email where he warns you not to mess with the blades or the scales, definantly raises suspicion about a "fall back plan". The breaker of this theory? His defense, and continual usage of his ebay screen name. Someone doing this would drop there ebay name, and assume a new seller identity. And with his mention of urleebird in his new ebay adds, it really seems like a personal vendetta.

    My final theory:

I think this guy has no life whatsoever. He probably is an honorary member of that knife club. But this is likely the only success he has ever achieved. Therefore, by having a problem with his knifes, and questioning his usage of mint, you have personally offended him. He kept throwing around that honorary knife club member in his email responses... There is a name for the disease, I just call these people losers. His life sucks so much and the only thing he is holding on to is his "title".

This following exerp clearly states, he has had a bad run, and he is going to make this year good for him no matter what it takes. That includes scamming bill.

YOU DO WHAT YOU GOT TO DO THIS IS GOING TO BE A GOOD YEAR FOR ME LOST BOTH MY PARENTS IN 2003 LOST MY JOB IN 2004 JUST GOT NEW JOB SO IM ON MY WAY UP BY WAY IM NOT ENGLISH TEACHER THAT WAS MY WEAKEST SUBJECT IN SCHOOL I LIKE HISTORY AND MATH MINT IS 100% NOT 85-90% ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS PUT A 3 cent FRAGILE STICKER ON YOUR PACKAGE TO ME BUT YOU DID NOT EVERY BODY THAT COLLECTS NO THAT RAZOR ARE MORE LIKELY TO BREAK THAN A POCKET KNIFE.

Also something that struck me, is he discounts his expertise when it comes to the description of the razor.... Below

BY WAY I COLLECT MOSTLY CRIPPLE CREEK KNIVES NEVER SAID I WAS EXPERT ON OLD KNIVES OR RAZOR HAVE BEEN COLLECTING CRIPPLE CREEK FOR 22 PLUS YEARS HARD TO FIND A PERFECT MINT CRIPPLE CREEK ANY MORE SINCE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN MADE SINCE 1994 MY PHONE NUMBERS 708-563-2024

    But notice this line:

EVERY BODY THAT COLLECTS NO THAT RAZOR ARE MORE LIKELY TO BREAK THAN A POCKET KNIFE.

But wait, now he suddenly has collectors knowlege in the area of razors?!?!

In closing, I believe two things happened to bill. I do believe this guy knows alot about his cripple creek knives. I think figured that meant he also knew about straight razors. He sold three junk razors and probably believed most of his own description. But he got called out by a razor expert. This is why he took it personally. I think with his past, and the crap that got thrown his way, he decided he was going to make this benefit him because nothing ever does. At that point he decided to scam bill, told him to return the razors, warned him about messing with them, and there you have it. He knew bill wasnt going to go very far over losing 30 bucks, or however much it was. I work in the programming industry, alot of programmers have this mindset. You call them out on a mistake, and they now have a personal vendetta against you. I have known people to plant virus's and steal information over such little things as telling them that they have to close a mysql socket.

I believe you handled this very well bill. I wouldnt go too much further with this. 30 bucks isnt worth the stress of dealing with someone like this. He has already justified his scam in his own mind, you trying to get the rest of your money back would only make him more upset.

P.S. Thanks for the razor. I love it I mailed the check out to you friday.
    Ryan

Even if English isn't your primary language or wasn't your best subject in school, you should still learn how to make a sentence every now and then.
