Default Mixed scales on a razor

How common was it for older razors to have one wooden scale and one plastic scale?

Never seen it before. I own 80+, have owned dozens more and have seen hundreds of hundreds on ebay, stores, etc. I've got a half dozen books about collecting and identifying straights and never heard it mentioned.

I do own two or three that have old home made wooden scales, most likely quick repair jobs judging from the pins/nails used.

I figured they're probably a case of a mix and match where two seperate razors had a single scale break, and they got repinned, but I'm not sure. The shape matched up pretty well, and I've now seen two razors that were the same way.

I think you might have a salesman sample. I have seen razors that look like they have not been re-pinned with two different colored scales.

I have a 4/8 Wostenholm that has a wooden scale and a black scale. Odd stuff. I got it shave-ready though, and while 4/8 is almost too small for me, it's a damn nice razor. I'm gonna put some matching scales on it some day.
