Default I don't know why I bid on these:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEBI%3AIT&rd=1

I think I was just trolling for razors; tossing a bid here, a bid there. These may have caught my eye because of their age, but upon closer inspection, they're clearly good for nothing! The scales are crap and I don't think those blades are salvageable.

So... who wants to outbid me? Go ahead, I won't mind. They're probably still better than the Zeepk razors, or whatever they're called.

To make this discussable, tell us of your past eBay goofs. Have any razors arrived that you didn't like? Any regrets?

Don't feel bad, we've all done something like that. Hopefully someone will come in at the last minute and rescue you from your current situation.

I don't think I want to pay the UPS shipping for those otherwise I might've outbid ya Depends ofcourse how much your max bid on it was as well.

But I bought a Torrey with a Warped/blued blade before I knew anything.....still have it. I might use the scales someday when I find out how to do all that work.

Yeah, one's been honed down to a toothpick and the W&B will need some work on the rough hone before you can start restoring the edge. As for the scales, you may want to try a plexiglass polishing compound (but first ask the experts if it's a viable option, since I never used it on razor scales lol). If that's doable, you can salvage the scales from the J&R, polish them and use them on another razor.

Yeah, those look to be horn scales on those razors. I think that's why I initially bid on them... because of their age. They must be early to mid 19th century.

Zeepk! I made that mistake. It was the first razor I bought. I thought since it was new it would be a good razor. Then I shaved (tried to) . Thankfully I found this forum and some of the other shaving forums to help me realize what to look for when bidding on a razor. Needless to say the Zeepk is now in my tool box and is being used as a box cutter.

Well, I won the damn auction. 8.99 was my winning bid, and the razors are now being shipped to me. Could be worse. I'll try to restore them (or one of them, at least) to working order and then I'll probably try to unload them on eBay again.
