    Default Appreciation

I just want to take a quick moment and thank Randy publicly (stand up and bow good friend!) for all his assistance, patience, and mentorship in my adventure into the straight razor. If not for this true gentleman, I would have not made the progress I did in such a short time. I recently had my second visit with him and had the opportunity to get some learning done on how to properly touch up a hone under his guidance, resulting in the best shave to date.

Hopefully this will embarrass you just as much as I anticipate .

Anyone else have a mentor they would like to stand up on a podium and get red-faced?

Thanks for asking. I'd like to thank Obie for his mentorship. Despite the many miles between Alabama and Wisconsin, through PM's he talked me down from the ledge and convinced me that I could do it. His unwavering support and encouragement to "enjoy the ritual" have made me a straight shaver for life. Thanks my friend!

Its been a while since I have considered myself the new guy, but I remember when I found out that someone else in Kansas City shaved with a straight and could teach me to hone, the guy even brought two boxes of rocks to my house and thoroughly amazed me with his knowledge, patience and generosity.

    Sham, I thank you!

I met Randydance at the last Mid mo meetup, what a great guy, I hope to see you again soon Randy!

Randy is a great guy and deserves the praise for the help and mentorship he has offered to you. You will find that Randy is a fine example of what SRP provides for all of us. Enjoy!

Thanks to Lynn for the site and his endless advice...and to those in the background that make it all happen.

Kelly, I'm with ya. I'd like to thank Sham, my honing was ok for me, but with his help I would now hone a razor for him or any other honemeister without being "skeered" of embarrasing myself. Oh ya...picked up pretty nice rock from him too!!

Man, I could go on and on...with all the veteran restorers, those who hang in the "workshop" & Dave for getting me into making razors.

In general, I personally would like to thank everyone who contributes their learned knowledge to someone who may not know as much as they do.

Tried to thank you as well jba302 for this thread, but for some reason the thanks button doesn't work from my end...
