I flirt with disposable razors from time to time..
I started the whole straight razor think in Feb 2008, after watching a special on the history channel convinced me I needed a strop to sharpen my pocket knife... so off to Ebay I went, and got a very beautiful Zeepk starter kit... since I had the razor anyway I figured I'd give it a go. Well those of you who tried Zeepks know how that goes...

Off to the internets to find out what I was doing wrong, stumbled accross this place, bought a "starter kit" from someone here (a razor that actually shaved!).

But I still use a single blade disposable sometimes when I just don't have time to use a straight (can do ok in 5 min with the disposable, and takes 30 min or so with a straight), or when airplane travel is involved. Or when I'm traveling somewhere that I know will not have adequate space for hanging a strop etc.

A little over 3 years now, although I tend towards DEs of late simply because work has gone nuts and I'm renovating my kitchen, so not a lot of time to devote towards myself.

After I stopped using a str8 30 years ago, I started up again 3 months ago. Boy did my face change! BTW, it makes it easier when one is retired. No need to rush and get some where. You can take all the time you want. When I look back I wished I never stopped. Of course I can say that about a lot of things.

It's been 23 months for me. I have used straights, DEs, and a Feather RG, but no cartridges in 23 months. Of course, I've found myself tempted (usually as I reached for the styptic pencil), but I haven't given in...no regrets at all!

Probably five years on a daily basis. When I'm in a hurry I still use a DE or SE or when I'm REALLY in a hurry I have a few disposables I might use. So probably 5-10 times a year with a cart and 90% of the rest with a Straight

How long? Hmmmm, about 1 year, 4 months, 6 days, 21 hours and 17 seconds.... Just kidding, but it has to be close to a year and a half by now. That last cartridge shave was a once-off, gotta shave quickly before work deal. Before that one shave it was probably a few months for sure.

It's like quitting smoking; you think about doing it every now and then, but then you remember all the progress you made that would be lost....
