Shaving with a straight has been something that has
always appealed to me. I'm glad that I finally made the
leap. I especially like the vintage razors. I can't help
but wonder every time that I hold one in my hand
who could have owned this razor. What was his name?
What did he do for a living? Where did he live?
Have any of you guys ever wondered the same thing
about your vintage razors? Or am I just weird......

For me --- It was 5 years ago when I was in a friend's bridal Party -- Each Groomsman was treated to a straight edge shave at a barbershop! WOW! It felt GREAT (though he did not go against the grain so my neck still had stubble).

Over the next few years -- I have had the pleasure of getting 2 more Straight Edge shaves and loved the way my skin felt afterwards.

A few months ago -- I found the Yahoo Group and this website....and my learning curve had begun. With the help of Randy and the Sharpening skills of Lynn and a DVD on HOW TO SHAVE....I started to learn the art. Since then my neck has NEVER been irritated.....I am still trying to master the art of shaving the upper lip and chin!

Hope all is well with everyone!

Well, yes, you are weird. But so am I. Most folks into old things probably wonder who owned this, etc. I have old knives, smoking pipes, walking-sticks, razors, a pocket watch, and LOTS of old books! All of these are very personal items and probably meant a lot to whoever owned them. I hope that one day someone who likes old things and old ways will use these same items and wonder about me. Life is fleeting. Take time and enjoy it.

I have a love for 18th century history and historical material culture...this is the latest foray into that world.

A great side benefit has been the best shaves of my life...and the fact that my wife of 24 years loves them too

I have wondered and even inquired. My first razor apparently belonged to a Torontonian artillery officer in the first world war. The seller, his aged son, believed it had accompanied him to Germany in WW I, but since it wasn't made until the 30's he was mistaken about that.
