Thread: Masonic tattoo

Ive never been into body art or even contemplated it...until I first saw these masonic razors a couple of years ago.

Would it be possible to get this as a tattoo, and for those SRP members who are into tattoos, where abouts on the body would you have this done ie. forearm or what?

And any idea what this might cost?

A good artist can do anything your heart desires. As far as location goes that depends on the size and the statement you want to make.

Here I am, better late than never. The good news is yes you can get that tattooed. The bad news is that it would have to be larger than the images on the blade etching. Masonic tattoos are not uncommon. If you google that phrase you'll no doubt see quite a few examples.

If you google 'tattoo shops in Manchester, UK' I expect you'll see who is around you with examples of their work. How much it will cost and where on your body to put it will depend on the final design you select. Make sure you see examples of the artist's work in a portfolio real time or online. I personally wouldn't get a tattoo from an artist who wasn't heavily tattooed though that isn't necessarily a criterion for determining skill.

Back of the Leg or arm is my opinion. You can projedt that image on a wall to get the size you need and trace it. Then just fined a good artist to put in on a negative transfer. Thats how I did my large back Tat. Also, factor at least $100-$200 an hour for the work.

I'm also thinking that would look good on either the upper arm, or if you can widen it a bit, as a backpiece.

Jimmy, I respect artists who are heavily tattooed, definitely. But I also agree with the notion that this is not a concrete criterion for skill. As an example, my best piece, a half sleeve from shoulder to elbow, was done by a guy with one small tattoo. His first career was a still painter, and his tattoo work looks just like a painting.

At any rate, I would recommend getting an artist to stencil it for you, and then having a consult with them as to where it may go. Place the stencil on different parts of your body to determine where it looks best. I would be tempted to use a flat surface, such as my back or possibly from my belt-line up to my armpit, right on top of the ribs.

My only other advice is to go BIG. I learned very early on (I have about 90 hrs of art work on my body now), that when you think the stencil is the perfect size, increase it by 20-30 percent: because as soon as it's done and healed, you'll get used to it and say "i wish it was just a little bigger".

I love getting tattooed. The thought of the needle just makes me want to get another. It's an addiction, just like this other little hobby of ours.

i know nothing of freemasons or masonary or whatever.. but i am tattooed and a tattoo collector.. and if i were to get that tattooed.. i'd go with the ribs.. from waistline to armpit..

I think I would agree with this advice....I don't take excercise advice from someone who is fat nor do I take marital advice from someone who's been married 5 times....I would think the same reasoning applies here.

Do you want it seen or unseen?

Seen, I would go for the inside of the Forearm (Wrist to Elbow)...

Unseen, Shoulder cap to the Elbow... Nice and BIG both on flat skin... If you're willing to get it... Do it right the first time...

Some people ask "why would you get a tattoo that can't be seen..." The answer is, I don't want everyone to know EVERYTHING about me...

I have over 50 hours in each upper arm (1/2) sleeves, 15 hours on my chest and 30 hours on my back... The back isn't even close to being done yet... Work in progress sence 2002.
