lesson learned
I like to think I am getting pretty good at finding bargins on ebay. This one would have been a steal. Razor shows very little honing wear. The stuff on the toe of the edge is soap residue.
The shank and tang still has most of the blueing left and the scales are very nice as well. The problem was a 1/8" chip were the edge is not shown in the picture. Ouch...
No I did not ask the questions I normally do.

Just be carefull and make sure there is a full picture of the razor.

Glen,
Yeah that has to suck big time. He was definately
hiding the damage.
I happen to have a razor just like that one that I
bought off Lynn.

That happened to me. They had two razors one open and one closed. When I got them the closed one had so much rust on the blade it was useless.

and it's not the money so much as I really wanted the razor. The $8 bucks wouldn't even buy three gallons of gas now.

Yeah, that sucks.
There are a lot of ebay sellers out there that have tiny or blurry pictures.
Or only show the razor (partially) closed.
Or have 6 pictures but all of them show the razor from one side only.
Dunno about you guys, but that kind of stuff always sets off my alarm bells.
I mean, if you have a nice razor why wouldn't you show it in the best possible way?

Yes, I have been done a couple of times like that from ebay sellers, certainly leaves a very bad taste dosen`t it. However I`m a firm believer of what comes around goes around and after the initial rage I become content in the knowledge that someone will do the same to them
