I wouldn't buy a duck if someone paid me to take one off their hands. But if you want to send them over here for proper disposal....

I can understand wanting to help the people here, but if I had been bidding on one of those razors, I don't think I'd appreciate a link being posted to its location on eBay. Most people here are collectors, after all, and will search these things out on their own. If everyone knows about an auction, the price is just going to be driven up and no one is going to benefit, except the seller.
That said, if you are the seller of those items and are trying to give them some expsosure, well, I'd probably do the same.

I think anyone that has an interest in Ducks probably had several of these in their watch lists already. I know I had 2 of them already tagged, and had seen most (if not all) of the others and I'm a rookie.
Kinda hard to slip one past these guys.

If your no 1 ebay strategy is to hope that nobody else on the planet will find the same item... well, good luck to you.
Besides, isn't the purpose of SRP to share knowledge as opposed to keeping it secret? Not that I want a flood of these kinds of "this is on ebay" messages, but I think Joe's message was appropriate.

I think Joe's message was appropriate. I already had a few on the snipe list so was not too thrilled, but then there were others I did not have so it kind of balanced out.

Ultimately, only one person will win an eBay auction. So unless your goal is to help the seller's bank account, there's no real advantage to posting a link (or links) to sought-after razors, such as Dubl Ducks. As gfoster mentioned, no one here has much difficulty finding these razors on their own; so posting them for public viewing is only going to result in the price being driven up -- no one wants that.
And, while it is unrealistic to hope that really nice razors will frequently go unnoticed, it does happen. If you're still in doubt, just put yourself in a "what if this were me?" scenario. Example: You've located a poorly-worded Wonderedge auction, buried in some new seller's eBay store. Your current bid of 36.50 is in the running to win --- do you post a link to what you're about to accomplish? Of course not.
You may not be screwing yourself, but you're almost always screwing someone else.
Just as posting e-mail addresses on message boards is taboo, so is posting eBay auctions; the exceptions being auctions that have already ended, or irregular, "freak show" items you're fairly certain no one would ever want.
I also scoff at people who post links to auctions they're bidding on, saying, "Hands off, guys!" If you advertise, expect to get called.
But hey, do as you wish.

Just thought I'd follow this up since my post and statement was referenced and I wanted to make sure I was perfectly clear. From a simple reading of your post, it sounds like (based on the reference to my post) that I might agree with you.
I want to be perfectly clear... I don't. I don't think Joe did anything wrong. I think we're all adults and I'd hate to see people hoarding knowledge and hoarding information. I very much value the advice I get here (and hope that someday I'll be able to give advice in return) and knowing what other collectors are looking at and hearing their discussions and viewpoints on what a particular razor might or might not be worth, things to watch out for that I (probably) didn't notice, all far outweigh the possibility of finding a gem that nobody else in the world is going to stumble across.
Sure, I might be sniping against someone else... but know what? I'm still going to set the same snipe value whether 3 others or 30 others are looking at it. I am trying to learn what a "fair" valuation is for a razor and that's what I offer. If someone else wants to run the price up to some crazy value, I'm not going to run the price up any further just because I have to have it. The fact that you or Joe or Bill or Vlad or Lynn or anyone else might also be wanting it makes no difference to me when I decide how much to try and snipe it for, only the intrinsic value of the razor. And that last part is what I learn from you all, especially when you're all open and share what you know and I'm grateful for it. I can't learn that in secrecy and silence.
In return, you don't have to worry about me running up the prices of razors to stupidly high levels because I quite simply don't know any better. You benefit because I offer fair valuations for razors and you don't have to deal with insanely high prices the next time you want to buy one.

This has become a stupid discussion. If you have the money you buy it if not you don't. I have passed on numerous razors because they were out of my range. People find what they want to find.

RT pointed out a out of 5 Ducks that I was able to land and have had a great time working on. He did a service for me there (thanks again RT). I might hope nobody notices my prize, I might wish nobody talked about them, but that'd be a personal thing. That'd be MY problem. Something I need to deal with on my own.

P.S. Yes I was watching all of those already.
