I've derided snipers, said I hate them...all because I don't like losing either. Well, I got on the d*mn bandwagon and got a sniping program, too. What are you looking for? I have a ton for sale. lol

You have to have a certain attitude when your on eboy. I usually wait until the last 15 seconds or so of the auction to bid and if its something I really want bad I bid way over the highest bid so in the 10 seconds or so left in the auction even the snipe programs don't have enough time to outbid me. Otherwise if I lose, ce la vie something better always comes along just have patience.
Buying from members here is always the best option. You'll actually get a better deal and a better product. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I snipe, but it does not mean I win every auction. I actually loose quite a few because I am cheap.
What sniping does is prevent someone from bidding based on your bid. Everyone is still free to bid what they want and win, they just can't decide to put an extra few bucks after they have seen your bid.
Sniping works really well for something you don't care whether you win or loose.
Sniping makes e-bay fair and economically efficient.

Thanked: 0Kinda takes the auction out of auction don't you think. The whole purpose of an auction is to bid over the other guys. With Sniping you have no idea. Seems to me it's more like shoot and holler. Oh well
Best course is to deal through the good folks here.

Engels are good ones. I saw that one and almost bid on it, but I wound up winning about 6 tonight anyway, not counting the 20 I got in earlier today.

E-bay, with its artificial cut off time, changed the auction dynamic completely. Now the highest bid squeezed in at the last few seconds wins.
Sniping is just a natural and economically efficient evolution of the e-bay style auction. It was inevitable and all the resistance to sniping is futile. It makes the auction resemble a closed bid contract bidding. Where everyone puts their bid into an envelope and at the end all are opened and the lowest bid wins. In this case it is the reverse, the highest bid wins.
I was one of these futile hold outs until I started using sniping because I got tired of trying to make the last second bid in person. Now, I would not want to bid on e-bay without it. I set it and forget it.
Many times I was surprised that I won something because I forgot that I set up a snipe bid. On the other hand, when my sniping program screwed up and bid 20 seconds early, I always lost without exception. Lesson learned. I now have my network time synced to NIST.

Thanked: 0That is a good point. Depending on how much the snipe process cost you.

I've got one more I am looking at. I would like to get one with those red clear Scales. I was a firefighter for 30 yrs. Kinda like red

It's irritatin getting taken out by sniping programs, but there's always tons of stuff streaming onto ebay, just be patient and something always manages to come up.
