Ha! The only nut case here he says.

Well written, you took me into the moment. I'm not honing yet, but I've gotten satisfaction from cleaning a razor up. You've encouraged me, thanks.

But, I hope all those things aren't going through my head until afterwards. I'm libel to cut off my nose.

Brilliant! That's exactly what I'm thinking when I'm shaving... who owned this before me? Before him? What were they thinking, what where they like? Was it passed down as a treasure or was it cast aside? I think old restored razors are far better than brand new ones especially for this reason.

Shaving has become much more to me than just a hair raising experience (heh)... it's become a half hour retreat into the past and a way to center myself in time and place.

I sometimes also wonder what life they may have when I am dust.

"Oh that's Great-Grand-Uncle X's Dubl Duck. He said he got that one off eBay (whatever that is) from the son of the first owner, a Canadian WWI Artillery Officer. X was such a coot. He actually shaved with one of those every day. Personally, I'm afraid to switch from my 'Schick Octopus'."
