Wow, that's a good looking razor. Good thing it's not a 5/8 or I'd be busting out my credit card

I have had my eye on that very razor for a while now. If it were a square point instead of round, I'd already own it!

I can't speak from experience about how well it would shave, but I think that having a heavy spine like it would have to have would make the blade very stiff, and make for a very good shave if you have more than a moderate beard.

I'd like to hear what Lynn or one of the other honemeisters has to say about them.

I have several framebacks, and like them a lot. The larger ones are the best, IMO. With the smaller ones, you're dealing with a paper-thin blade at the bottom, with very little stiffness. With the larger ones, they're more like a thin wedge, with a heavy spine.

I have a TI which is sold by classic shaving as a frameback but TI really calls it a squareback, kind of a hybrid I guess. It shaves very well and though the spine is thick the edge is thin so its like any other hollow grind in feel.

I just won a true frameback on Eboy so when I get it it will be an interesting comparison.

I bought that razor from John, and when he sent it to me he said I'd like, and boy was he right! It's really excellent, among my best shavers. I can't tell you how easy it is to hone because chances are I won't have to do that for many months. Based on how it refreshes, I would say it will sharpen up easily.

Very nice. I'm not for the framebacks myself much, but that one has some nice lines.

    Thumbs up Frameback

I bought that exact same razor from John around a month ago. It is now my favorite. It's well balanced and it's a downright good looker. I'm looking at getting another in the near future.

Excellent news then :-) I was worried that the steel would be too thin etc but it appears that it isn't. I may have to dig out that credit card now, if i can only find where the wife hid it.
