Thanked: 2Ever had your str8 stolen from your luggage?
This is a follow-up to a previous posting of mine today.
I know there is a risk to flying with a str8 in a checked bag and having it stolen or that it could happen at any time even though it hasn't happened yet, but my question is if you have flown and checked a bag with a str8, has it ever been stolen? I would not take my best or worst razor. I realize the possibility exists, but I'm wondering if it has actually happen to anyone.
I guess another threat would be if someone from the hotel cleaning staff would steal it. Has anyone ever had this happen?
Thanks,
Rob

Thanked: 4942Hi Rob,
I travel with my straight razors all the time. Never had one stolen. Even traveled to and from Italy with some Maestro straight razors and cutlery without incident. Just pack the razor, a small Proraso tub and a traveling badger brush in the toiletry bag. Works well. I like those little cords ClassicShaving sells for the hanging strops to that fit around door knobs too as I usually pack a hanging strop in my bag.

Thanked: 2Rob,
I've travelled with my straights and never had a problem. I usually leave my hotel bathroom set up with the strop, creams and brush, with razors out on towels to dry after use. I've never had an issue, though I'm sure it could happen. I would think that your camera or ipod is more likely to get stolen than a straight razor.
It's sort of like stealing someones false teeth, despite the fact that they are valuable, it's kind of a niche market, no?
