    Default W&B I got off of E-bay

    Well,

I just purchased a W&B from ebay. To be honest, it kind of scares me. #1 the blade needs to be restored, #2 I'd be happier if it had a new handle on it. The reason for #2 is that the razor is extremely loose hence my fear.

Who on hear does both blade restoration (i.e. fixing the nick and making it shave ready) and also can do a handle replacement? How much would this cost (ball park, I know that somebody would actually have to see it to make an actual quote)

    Thanks in advance,

    Wes

btw, here is a link to the one I won.

    thanks!

    Ok,

So, I bit the bullet, and took the B&W a few trips on my hone, stropped it, lathered up and went for it.

Oh my God. That's all I can say. Very close shave - honestly, it didn't even feel like I was cutting through my beard. Like BUTTA. Now, I'm drooling wondering to myself what it would be like if the thing was actually repaired, and honed by somebody who actually knows what the heck they are doing (what are the odds that I actually did it correctly?). The handle is still scary - Joe I will get to you - I've just been busy with honey do's and yard work.

The thing is (you guys probably already know this) that it has a completely different feel than my Dovo (which is a hollow ground). Is that because its a wedge shape razor? I'm sorry if this is a completely newbish observation.

Your right, the feel is different because of the grind. A wedge has more/thicker steel behind the edge thus less flex in the blade. Most of the wedges are silent shavers.

    Enjoy!
