Thanked: 0Ebay,Is what I think happening,happening
I have bid on 2 NOS Revisors on Ebay from the same seller. Both times bids went to max and lost. Amazingly on both (two in a row). I get a 2nd chance offer on both for guess what? Max bid. Just a conincedence?
FWI I am a newbie with Ebay also.

Did these auctions have a reserve price? If that was the case then you met or was close enough to make a deal with the buyer.

Thanked: 0You got it.
I don't remember him having a reserve. I don't think he did. Just seemd a little odd,2 in in row and the only two from him I bid on. I just decided to get a 6/8 from John. Price w/shipping winds up the same. And I know what John will send.Last edited by Popeye; 07-03-2006 at 01:40 PM.

Thanked: 0I just got a message from him saying he had another one. Didn't get that on the last one. That's a shame. I like the 5/8 Revisor I have from John. but I think I need a heavier one for my beard.

I think you're doing the right thing.
90$ for an ebay Revisor is more than I would pay. From John, that's a different story. I have a 6/8 Revisor btw, and that's one smooth shaver
If I remember correctly. there was a time period not too long ago in which mr_barence's account was disabled by ebay, reasons unknown.
I don't want to start any rumours, that's just the facts.

Thanked: 0What really made up my mind is that I had just won a 3/8 Revisor (gonna try it for my upper lip) from another seller for $22 bucks less than the 6/8 and it is I think a lot more uncommon I think than a 6/8. I feel like I paid a premium price for the 3/8 but they don't seem to be that easy to find. At least I don't see them.

The less-than-5/8 are the ugly ducklings of ebay.
If you like the narrow ones, you can get excellent deals on these as they are way less popular than the wider blades.
BTW, the prices for Revisors are currently overheated. I think it's time to lay low for a while and let everything cool down a bit.

Thanked: 0I agree,
I'm laying low for a good while. I have some coming I am going to try out. Most are going back up for bid. I need to concentrate on my honing skills and get that down. Making good progress so far but I still need an Escher or a coticule. The 3 I did yesterdy are ready to shave but I still would like to get a little finer and smoother edge. I really like the stones, less chance of foul ups. I've only had the Swaty for 3 days so I am trying to learn it's properties also.

Let's NOT start any rumors.
I was in contact with Mr Barence after he was removed form ebay. The problem was his son had used his account improperly. Once this was straightened out, MR B was put back on ebay - it wasn't his fault.
