Thanked: 23I can agree with this, I went to a new AOS store near me because I was interested to see what it was about I listened to the sales person give the whole speaw on how everything works so I bought a travel set. For a while I had said I would like to start shaving with straight razors but never actually acting on it. I used the brush and cream that night and the whole experience had me thinking if it was this good with a cartridge how great could it be with a better razor i.e. DE or SR. I found this site and a few weeks passed and I had placed and order for my first razor.
Similarly I got my dad the same AOS travel setup I started with for christmas. After his first shave with everything he was saying, "I think I might start using a straight razor."

I'm not sure what caused it I'm just glad it's happening. There are a lot arts that people do not have the chance to enjoy because corporate america says there isn't enough time or it isn't convienent. I say "BULLOCKS" People are always trying to find an easier way of doing something, and easier or more convienent doesnt mean better. Maybe some people are starting to realize that and picking up a straight is their way of showing it.

I was always lead to believe this segment had something to do with it.

It helps that straight razors don't take up much room, and are made of good quality steel. So, they sit in drawers and boxes until they are sold in estate sales and reenter the market. If it wasn't for this continual influx of "new" stock, I suspect the price of vintage straights would be increasing even more rapidly.
Who knows where the zenith in interest in straights lies. But, as interest increases, the influx of truly new razors by Dovo and Hart and others will also increase, somewhat dampening the rise of vintage prices.
I fully expect vintage straight prices to continue to increase. But, I don't expect the increase to be dramatic.
