Why WB?
I've seen more than one blade shpe for W&B. I have one from ebay that is pretty standard.
I'm wondering if the W&B is so popular because of the steel or the unique large, bowed shape I see so often?

Thanked: 324The steel is first class, Tom. some of the shapes are really interesting, too. A collector could make a lifelong enterprise of merely collecting Wade and Butcher razors. They were in business a long, long time and are the most prolific razor manufacturer of all time, in my opinion. That should say something about their quality. They didn't become so prolific and popular because they were so-so.

I've seen some less than ideal pieces, but I have this restoration project that should become quite a beaut, once I'm done with it. I have to admit that the steel is top-notch.

Great steel, great temper, great feel. They hone nicely, and shave superbly. IMO, Wade & Butcher define what a straight razor should look, feel, and shave like.

The Sheffield steel is all that matters to me.
The main reason why they are in demand: we here at SRP create the demand by talking about them. I remember when DD's were in demand b/c Lynn used one in his video. I like the excitement and enthusiasm. It's all good!!
