    Default Ebay shipping time

being new to ebay, i was wondering what is the normal turn around time on recieving an item that you purchase? maybe i should be asking what is the normal time before the seller sends the items out(assuming you paid quickly).

i bought and item off ebay 6days ago, so i wrote the seller ask him if he had sent the item. he replied not yet but hopes to get it out tomarrow/next day. is that normal? hell i paid the guy within hours of the auction ending, just figured they would ship the item within 2 days. needless to say, i was disappointed.

I would have to guess this is not uncommon. As the buyer you're excited to get it as soon as possible. As a seller, you're just happy to get rid of it, no hurry necessary.

I won two DE razors on eBay a couple of weekends ago. Paid for them less than 15 minutes after winning them. Took 8 days for the packages to show up. I wrote both sellers, one never replied, the other explained her husband had been in the hospital.

That's where the feedback button comes in handy. If he has no real excuse, I'd certainly leave him a neutral feedback. I left positive feedback for both my purchases, simply because a week isn't unreasonable and the items were as described in the listing.

When we pay for something promptly we expect the seller will reciprocate but the fact is many of these sellers sell huge quantities of items and some only ship one day a week and some small time sellers ship when they feel like it so the answer is it depends on the seller. I have been pretty lucky with most of the things I've bought and usually it has gone out in a day or two after payment but on occasion I've waited a week or two before shipment and of course there was always some lame excuse.

Spendur's right...but if a seller takes 6 days to ship, I definitely wouldn't buy anything else from them. I'm sorry, but without a good excuse, there's no reason to take 6 days to ship. Now, say someone pays with an e-check...those take 3-4 days to clear, so a 6-day wait to ship isn't unreasonable, but if you do an instant payment (and I generally try to do mine within minutes of auction's end), there's no reason it should take that long. That just tells me the seller is happy to get my money, but doesn't do anything to warrant my being quick about paying. I try my best to not do business with those type of people, and make a note when I have a seller like that. Thankfully, that experience has been exceedingly rare for me, and most sellers ship either the next day, or within a couple days.

I think the average is 2-3 days after the payment is made for shipping to happen. Sometimes it's next day, but that's not the average. I think it's hardest for people that work 9-5 to find time to hit the post office during open hours during the week.

Well I bought and paid for an item tomarrow being the 10th day and so far nothing. It was coming from Canada but was hoping faster. They gave me a shipping # but I think 2 days after it was shipped it hit Ontario and that was it. Hmmm

BTW I would also be pretty upset with someone taking 6 days to ship a package. I can't see shipping an item taking that much time.

Anything from Canada seems to take forever. I got stuff from New Zealand and England in half the time it took to get something from Canada. Don't really know why, but anything shipped from Canada is slower than a politician turning down a bribe.

Ohh they do that in Canada too. I thought our crooks had that market cornered.
