Bill Ellis CD won't work :(
I recently bought Bill Ellis Restoring CD. I was looking forward to receive it. I got it last Thursday
When I put it in my computer, nothing happened. I looked if the computer did even recognize the media, and it didn't. I'm using Windows Vista and my internet is Mozilla Firefox. No matter how I tried to open it, nothing happened. The drives said that nothing was in them
My father said that I could use his computer to play the CD, and it started just fine. I've almost read until the pinning part. It's nice. But now his usual internet browser (Firefox also) won't open. Internet Explorer still works. His system is Windows XP.
We are both frustrated because firefox won't open, and now the CD won't play either. Well, it starts the very first screen, but when we press any of the menues (My homepage, pinning, ect.) it loads for some time and nothing happens at all! I've only been able to play the CD once (it was on my father's computer) and now it has jammed his internet.
Have you had this stuff happening before? We are quite desperate and could use some help
Best regards
Kristian

Since your father's computer plays it, there is no chance that the CD is to blame. The problem lies in your computer. I have had similar experiences myself when I ordered some instructional CD's. For me the problem was that I did not have the correct codec for the format. For some reason windows does not provide all the necessary codecs, and you might need to buy a codec pack if you cannot find a free download. I got one and now my system plays any video I can get my fingers on.
For more info on codecs, check this wikipedia article.
Best of luck.

Have you tried a different media player? I use VLC for everything. Also, why mention the browsers? Media playback should have nothinv to do with those.

He mentions browsers because Bill's DVD is not media, it is a key to web pages. If I remember correctly when you put it in a menu comes up and each item you click on opens a web page.
I know that it prefers IE. I have Windows 7 and one thing that happened for me is that when I used the disk it changed my default browser to IE. All I had to do was change it back, but as I've said I have a different setup than you.

Oh, very interesting. I'd assumed it was a DVD. Seeing as I have a copy, I'll have to check that out.

Solved
Thanks for your replies, gentlemen.
As for the CD / DVD thing, Mr. Bill Ellis wrote on his homepage: Don't try to play this on the TV. It's a CD... or something similar
I called a friend of mine and he told me that my CD reader thingy in the drive was probably toast. I tried to play another CD... and nothing happened, too. (maybe just because my computer dosn't like Take That, what do I know? )
As for the problem with his browser, and it wouldn't open afterwards... I still don't know how that happened. we fixed it by reinstalling the browser.
My mom said that I could borrow her computer. My previously mentioned friend said that I could just copy the content on the CD onto a USB stick. Why didn't I think of that
So... Problem solved (for now)
Best regards
