    Default $5 straight razor shave

I found a barber in town that gives SR (disposable blade) shaves for only five bucks. I visited with him and he said he would use a real straight if I brought one in for him. Accodring to him in our state SR sahves aren't banned just discouraged. He siad he doesnt use real straights on customers because he doesnt ever want the customer to worry about blood borne pathogens. Anyway, I thought $5 was a pretty good deal for a SR shave.

Since most barbers now don't SR shave I am curious if they still have strops and ways to make hot lather and towels and such. If I brought in my own razor and they had all the other stuff then that would be awesome.

My barber uses a disposable blade for the same health laws. I did notice though he didn't change blades between customers. Oh well always a way around the rules. He does use hot towels and hot lather and proraso pre shave.

Rich, I'd start going to a different barber.

Hey what can you expect for 7.50. Actually I think the reason for the law is not the metal but the strop.

Being shaved with a blade already used on someone else is like shooting up the white stuff with a used needle. A big no-no.

I still would not bet on it. Unless it's wiped, there sill might be microscopic skin particles that will remain unsterile... Man, just told your barber to switch the blade, or bring a new one everytime you go to him... Even here, where straight razor shave is ~2$, the blades are changed before each shave.

Makes me think of getting a tattoo with a used needle. But think of how long they used the one same razor a long time ago without any concern of disease.
