shavette question
Do any of the shavette type razors take a regular Schick type injector blade? I'm thinking of getting one to shave near my moustache and beard, but don't want to have to go out of my way to buy blades. I think the shavette type handle will also give better control than a regular injector handle.

Thanked: 346I thought the shavette took half a DE blade? At least around here DE blades are easier to find than injector blades.

There are several different flavors of shavette out there.
A stock Dovo uses half a DE blade, but also has holders which will accept longer then usualy DE looking blades as well as rigid back blades.
Fromm uses rigid back blades from the word go.
Then there's the Feather, which has its own blades. Some of the guys at SMF are taking feather blades, cutting them down and using them in the old injector razors.

Thanked: 346I assumed that when he said "shavette", he meant an actual shavette. Perhaps I was mistaken.

I consider shavette to be a generic term for disposable-bladed straight razors. An official shavette is made by Dovo, but there are several others in the same genre.

Definitely not an official Dovo Shavette. I don't want the half a double edge type. Breaking a razor blade in two, even a perforated one, gives me the willies! Nope would like one that takes a stiffer injector blade, only a regular size one; not like the Feathers which are longer (and much too expensive for me). Someone suggested one made by Hess takes a regular injector blade. Anyone familiar w/ that one?

Did some online research and found that yes, Hess makes one that takes a longer as well as a regular injector blade. Also found one made in Japan called Mr. C that just takes a regular injector blade. Anyone tried one of these?
