Applying to Barber School!
I'm on my way to apply to barber school. A few years of wet-shaving and a couple using straights, and spending time on here and over at AoM put the bug in me. Having recently become unemployed was the impetus I needed to go for it. It all depends on if I can get financial aid or not, hope it works out. Just thought I'd share.

Hello, Jeremy:
Barbering is a noble profession. Real barbering, I mean. We have several members here who have attended barber school and maybe they will toss in some comments. Good luck to you.
By the way, you are not unemployed, but are between engagements.
Regards,
Obie

Thank you for the correction Obie. I have the utmost respect for your usage and command of the language. Real barbering is my intention. I do not know of any barbershops in my area that offer shaves; hopefully I will be able to provide this service. I'd love to bring traditional barbering back to my hometown.

Sounds like fun, hope you enjoy going back to school. I think every town should have a traditional barber shop. You'll have to keep us updated as to where you will be working just in case I ever head through that area and need a shave. Good luck and have fun.

Congratulations!
I was in the same boat as you when I decided to attend barber college, 15 years as a wireman I got laid off and decided that I never wanted to go back.
My advice to you is to not be in a hurry for anything, take your time, stay late every day, you will definitely get out what you put in.
Most schools wont come out and tell you straight up but they are there to teach you how to pass the boards not how to be a good barber, that is on you to absorb from your instructors and from the other students.
You will be a razor prodigy, for you it will come quicker and easier than it will for anybody else.
Finally, get yourself a shoebox and at the end of the day when you come home put all of your tips in it, I bought a riding lawnmower with mine after I graduated.
Congratulations again and if there are any questions you have or ever need any help feel free to PM me.
