I think you will find workmanship varies widely even on brand new razors. There is still much handwork even on a "mass produced" Dovo if you want to consider their level of manufacture as mass produced. I doubt I have seen 2 blades come thru here with exactly the same contor on the round nose. TI razor will have off center pins, odd grinds and contours, etc.... I appreciate hand work and am fine with variations, Other will be very dissapointed.

If he is willing to exchange another for that one fine but personally I wouldn't make a big deal over it. As they say don't sweat the small stuff. The important thing is in what condition is the blade in? If the blade is perfect and there aren't any gouges or cracks in the scales I wouldn't make an issue of it. I've gotten razors from TI with crooked pins. misaligned pins and lousy polishing on horn scales and I'm not talking about their lower priced razors either.

Thats a vintage razor which has been knocking around for how many years? If you want perfect buy a maestro or have one of our guys here do some custom work for you. Thats my 2 cents.

Mr. Barence was very accomodating - offered a deduction or exchange, said he was sorry, and thanked me for the comments - NOW THIS IS A GREAT SELLER!

I attach my e-mail to him below, think I did a decent job:

    Dear Dirk,

Let me start by saying that I really appreciate your cooperation - very much so because I have followed your auctions and was expecting to buy other razors from you in the future. Of course, if we could not resolve this razor - I would not be looking at other razors from you, and since you have consistently interesting razors, this would be a pity (for me).

I like the blade (otherwise I would not have bid on it) - the worked back, size, etching, and I am not sure I like anything you have now better for an exchange. So it would seem best (fastest and easiest) to do a deduction.

I don't want to create bad feelings between the two of us. This is why I propose that you decide on the amount of the deduction - please, deduct whatever you think is fair for both you and me to address the razor issues. Just send me a short note to tell me.

Thank you VERY MUCH for your cooperation!

    Default Mr_Barence came through

I think you all need to know that less than 24 hours after I sent my first e-mail explaining that I was disappointed with the razor in several ways, Mr_Barence refunded $30 (I had asked him to decide on the amount himself).

I would definitely continue to follow his auctions, just next time I bid on a razor from him I'll ask questions so that I know the level of *perfection* and price my bid accordingly (I would hate to go through this with him again - bad for both of us)

    Cheers
    Ivo
