I'm neck deep in projects I can't even hope to start for a few more weeks. I've got a half dozen or more blades in various states of repair and I have to decide how much of that I think I can reasonably accomplish myself. You see, I'm NOT a very handy type man. My wife is the one with the power tools.
Outside that and just looking at the regular shaving activities ... first of all it is a question I've asked myself recently. I sure don't mind spending longer than I used to to get my shaves, but then I also spend a couple hours a week honing and we haven't even taken into consideration the refurbishing projects. Why do I do it? I can't tell you. I enjoy the honing even though there's the bevel creation involved in much of it which is the bulk of the time and pays off after a lot of work. Count my hone giving me trouble recently and that doubles the time I was spending on the stone.
All in all I'd have to say that I'm not looking for more time with my gear, but I sure seem to be finding it without any problem.

Right now I'm in it with one hanging strop, one paddle strop, one brush, a few soaps, and a norton. Not too bad, except for the money and time I've invested on restoring and supplies. I have about 25 razors now, 5 or so fully restored and another 5 or so in progress. As I plan on replacing the plastic/celluloid scales with wood on almost all my razors, I still have another 10+ to do
