Thanked: 9Heading to Scotland.
Good Evening,
I am heading to Scotland on vacation and I was wondering if anyone knows any antique stores or locations to try my luck at finding some razors.

It's been 9 years since I was there so I can't really provide any specific shop names but I will say that it's an amazing place to visit (VERY warm, friendly people, beautiful landscape) and you're sure to have a blast.
Best recommendation I can give is to just ask people in any of the cities or towns you visit - e.g. B&B keepers or hotel concierge, wait staff at restaurants, shop keepers, etc. if they can point you in the direction of any good antique shops.
Also, if Glasgow happens to be one of your destinations, I recall there being a fairly large flea market type of set up - I think it was The Barras - which is held on weekends.
Hopefully some chaps from the UK will chime and give you more specifics.
Have a great trip!John

Thanked: 190I was there last year and too busy with the Scotch sampling/consuming to worry about acquiring any new/used straight razors. Great people and cool places like the Isle of Skye. Also zipping around those tiny backroads with the many flying scotsman was quite the experience. So since there is so much to see and do, perhaps on-line transactions is another option to try.
Good Luck,
Pabster

Thanked: 227Hi Michael
Welll I'm in GLasgow and the Barras is still here, it's a weekend thing though. Gimpyalex took me to an antiques place in GLasgow, give him a shout and I'm sure he can tell you where it is if you plan on a glasgow visit. There are also a few antique stores in Edinburgh within walking distance of the royal mile, but as I visited them on Sundays when they happened to be closed I can't tell you wether they had razors sorry on that one,but I hope this little ramble has helped a little bit.
Also is Glasgow on your itenerary?

God I hate my username, there's an antiques fair which I've yet to check out at Kelvin hall on the west end of the city centre on the 24th of July and clydeside antiques: their website can be found here phone before you go, I found a couple of straight razors, but not that great a wee while ago and here's google maps to show alot of antique places I haven't checked yet myself;
