    Default Top 5 tricks learned

I apologize for not crediting the originators and linking to their posts. The sources are varied though, most came from SRP. The search function here should lead you to any posts on tricks that interest you. Thank you contributers all.

Breaking in a new boar brush. My own method.
My new Omega Professional 20102 27x65 (specifically for mug lathering with hard, triple milled soaps) might have taken a year to break in. When I got it...it stank and was stiffer than a wire brush.
Soak in OxyClean solution. No more stink. Shampoo and creme rinse. Much softer. Wash with dish detergent after each use. Sped up splitting and softening.
The brush is now about 3 months along and getting close to being right. I'm liking it more every shave.

    5. Dessicant packets in storage drawers. Several for DE blades and several more for straight razor drawer. No data to support that this helps against oxidation but, it seems logical and provides a little peace of mind.

    4. Adjustable hinge pins. Tightened firmly makes stropping and honing easier and handling much better.

    3. Alum block and water for fingertip traction when skin stretching. Invaluable!

    2. Post use blade dipping solution. Hydrophobic and anti-rust with a quick dip. Solution suggested was 100% IPA and Camillia oil. I use 91% IPA rubbing alcohol (drug store available) with a few drops of CLP (already on hand for gun storage). Very efficient!

    1. Superlather with liquified lanolin. Absolutely the best! My favorite is Tabac with 3 drops of liquified Lanisoh. It is almost impossible to nick myself with this on my face. I can buff away 'til my heart's content with no irritation. TRY THIS!

I hope someone learns a trick that makes their shaving experience more enjoyable.
