Thanked: 0Iberia
Anyone know anything about Iberia razors? I found one made in Spain. It is stamped Iberia-Basset S. A. Doble Temple Made in Spain. On the blade it says in gold Iberia Doble Temple.
It's new in box. The box is perfect. The razor shows no signs of strop or hone ever touching it. It looks like it's brand new. The paper in the box with the razor says something in spanish, english and french about using german tools, swiss steel, and making these in Barcelona.
Did Filarminica make razors for other shops?

You just put another razor on my list. I milked Scipio's use of Iberian auxilia (at Ilipa) for essays in several courses. One of the reasons was that I really liked the name of the region lol.
For those of you who aren't history fanatics, the battle of Ilipa was where Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus showed amazing tactical genius and creativity. When he defeated Hannibal at Zama, it was more about using the same tactics but with superior forces. Ilipa was about slowly advancing the Iberian mercenaries to keep Hasdrubal's centre line occupied, while executing an elaborate flank maneuver with his more reliable forces that effectively neutralized the Carthaginians. Once the Iberians saw which way the wind was blowing they proved themselves to be a brave and loyal ally
Edit: Sorry about the threadjack, but I REALLY like to discuss that battle

I might put it on eBay and see it it can offset the cost of the 6/8 PUMA that I'm sure I'll buy one day :P
Oh and about battles in the Iberian peninsula, I've read and enjoyed all the Bernard Cornwell "Richard Sharpe" books. (Sharpe's Rifles et al) I always think about those when I hear about places from that region. Oh and of course Barcelona is in Catalan. And that's where Dr. Marturin is from in the Aubrey/Maturin books from Patrick O'Brian. I've read that cannon twice and highly recomend it.

Thanked: 0I have a new respect for anyone taking photos of straight razors.
I still haven't found any information on these razors. I suspect that it's a fil that was made for someone to brand as their own.
