I've switched from a night time shaver to a morning shaver now that I'm moved and doing a long commute.
I'm up at 5:30 and straight into the shower. I get out of the shower and as I'm shaving my honey brings me some coffee. Once I'm done shaving I'm usually wide awake. I grab my iPod full of fresh podcasts, top off my travel mug with fresh coffee and I'm ready for my hour to hour and a half commute

At the job I just left, I'd often shave the night before. Even if I had a bit of stubble, the place wasn't all that professional, so it didn't matter. Who am I kidding -- you could do whatever hell you wanted there, basically.
Now I've got to wear dress pants and a shirt and tie, so it's a little different. I tried using the straight this morning, thinking I had gotten it quite sharp on the hone last night; but it wasn't working all that well on my rather short stubble, so I switched over to the DE yet again. I'll figure something out, I'm sure.

Even if the place is professional, there must be some guys who shave with electrics. If you shave the night before, you will still show up with a cleaner face than theirs after shaving in the morning.

I work for TD Bank Financial Group as a Co-op. They are lax here on standards as it is business casual. There are people walking around with just crap/unshaven faces so you should be fine with your new job. As Ilija said, electrics in the morning will still have the same effect as last night's straight shave.

Currently the attire is "business," but apparently they're making the move to business-casual shortly.
And yeah, I see some scruffy guys walking around. I must rise above them. Heh. I'm going to try and fly straight.

Being in a hurry with a straight is never a good thing. If I'm pressed for time I'll use a DE. This was one of those mornings and using my Mercur vision I actually cut my face a little.

When I use a DE I actually cut my face MORE than when I use a straight. The other day I did my straight shave in 10 minutes, no redness a bloodspot or two but nothing cold water and some aftershave wouldn't solve.
