Thanked: 9They are here!!!
4 razors and a new silver tip! heheheeeee
still have not opened them - will report later
So here we go:
1. Omega brush - sold as pure badger but if this isn't silver tip I don't know what is. Silkiest tips I've tried so far and really white. An ugly gold ring at the top of the shaft but still can't wait to try it out. Cannot imagine it will work better than the current favorite (Burma shave boar) but who knows (for what it's worth, I lather in a bowl, and then I never feel the boar as prickly, maybe I'll be able to tell a bigger difference if I build directly on my face)
2. Badaud (Joe Chandler) - 6/8 1/4 hollow, barber's notch, bone handles - this beauty is sure to get one of the top spot in my rotation, really love the looks
3. Wade & Butcher - 7/8, barber's notch, heavy. Scales are really worn, which didn't bother me but there's a crack. Depending on how its shave works out for me, might either get custom scales or sell it as is.
4. Boker - 6/8, 1/4 hollow, barber's notch. I really like this razor. Big curve on tang, Tree stamped in scales (for some reason I love this) Tang does not even say Solingen, just Germany and H Boker & Co w/ the tree on the other side - which leads me to believe it's quite old.
5. Wostenholm Celebrated IXL - 5/8 barber's notch frameback. How do I hone this thing? Very light (surprisingly for me) and quite pretty curves. Some rust that I need to take care of.
Overall: all of the antiques seem to have great potential (W&B, Boker, and Wostenholm), Badaud from Joe C looks fab and the brush looks niceLast edited by izlat; 09-11-2006 at 03:28 PM.

Thanked: 9Yes, I noticed it is stiff. I thought a razor is better if it's heavier - since general advice is to let the weight of the blade do the work and avoid pressure... But just holding the razor and shaving some hair off my arms "feels right" and I have the feeling I will love it too.

Thanked: 9RT,
I was posting from work
Anyway, the razors are understated, and the brush bugged me with its gold trim. Nobody is going to be wow-ed by these, I am just thinking I got nice steel from major manufacturers on my "try it" list.
The brush did bloom beautifully but is a bit floppy after the boar. Nevertheless, after some work I whipped very very nice lather with the Burma shave soap. This brush does hold a lot more water and lather than my Burma boar bristle and I can appreciate the better quality looking at it or using it - if only I could ignore the gold trim (I have this personal thing against yellow gold trim)
Bottom line is, most of my shaving-related acquisitions to date are humble, compared to other people's arsenal. I mean, there are people here with custom damascusses, mammoth ivory scales, not to mention multiple Pumas and Double Ducks...
